Today I had planned to write about how insensitive marketing communications can totally turn your potential & current customers off & cause them to rethink buying from you again.
My topic was holidays & a particular airline company.
However, given the current happenings in the US in response to the terrifying & distressing death of George Floyd and the impact around much of the world, it feels totally wrong to be writing about something like that right now. It would be, in my opinion, totally insensitive.
How a human can treat or watch another human being treated in that way irrelevant of background or preconceptions is beyond me.
So instead, I’m taking more time again today to understand the underlying issues causing the riots and response, and hope that this type of situation will not occur again, irrelevant of skin colour, nationality, race or religion.
I know it’s a big ask, but we’ve got to hope, right?
Normal business will resume tomorrow, or maybe the next day, but for now writing about my thoughts around how the travel industry has conducted some recent marketing activity seems wrong & unnecessary.
Today I’m opting for peace, understanding & education.
